Just some local issues…

• I attended the St. Paul's debate last night. It was very interesting, and I'm working on a write-up which should be online later.
• The Harbourfront debate was also last night. The Toronto Star doesn't say much about it except that all candidates are opposed to the bridge to the island airport and all candidates except the Liberal are in favour of dismantling the Toronto Pork Authority. I wonder if Conservative candidate David Watters is speaking for himself, or his party?
• If you've missed the stories, our Toronto Police Services Board is entirely malfunctional. Various scandals have left the board with vacancies and tied up members in the courts. It is down to a 3-3 deadlock, and one side has a tendency to walk out of the room to break quorum. It is up to the Province to fix this. Anyway, now they have another serious issue to face -- deciding whether or not to renew Julian Fantino's mandate for another 5-year term.
• The CAA -- which last week released an outrageous plan to build expressways all over Toronto, and just offshore our beaches (in the east and the west) -- is now claiming David Miller is considering their plan. Please. I can't believe they are serious about trying to push this thing.
